A new US-Canada trade pact may be finalized as early as next week, just ahead of the G7 Summit scheduled for June 15, according to comments from US Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra and unnamed Canadian sources.
Speaking to reporters in Ottawa, Ambassador Hoekstra said:
“I am optimistic where this relationship is and I’m more optimistic about where I think this relationship is headed.”
Canadian government insiders confirmed to The Toronto Sun and other outlets that talks have reached an advanced stage, with one source stating:
“It will happen before the G7, possibly as early as next week.”
Another added:
“Ottawa knows what they have to do”, in reference to negotiation expectations set by the US delegation.
