China’s Ministry of Commerce issued a strong statement early Wednesday, condemning the United States for imposing new restrictions on high-tech Chinese chips. The ministry called the US measures “typical of unilateral bullying and protectionism,” escalating tensions in the ongoing technology and trade rivalry between the two superpowers.
According to the statement, the US actions not only target China unfairly but also severely disrupt the global semiconductor supply chain and undermine international industry cooperation. The ministry further accused Washington of abusing export control mechanisms to isolate and suppress China’s technological development in violation of international trade norms.
“These discriminatory and restrictive measures against Chinese companies violate the principles of fair competition,” the ministry said, adding that any organization or individual aiding the implementation of such US measures would be held legally accountable under Chinese law.
China urged the United States to “immediately correct its wrongful practices,” and to respect international economic and trade rules. The statement emphasized the right of all nations to pursue scientific and technological advancement without interference or political suppression.
The sharp remarks highlight the growing divide between Washington and Beijing over technology access and national security, as both countries continue to compete for dominance in advanced industries such as semiconductors and AI.
