Iran Rules Out Revival of Nuclear Talks with the US

Tehran has not entered into any agreement or arrangement to resume nuclear negotiations with the United States, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, CNN reported on Friday.

“No agreement or arrangement has been made to resume the negotiations. Neither any promise has been given, nor any discussion has been held on this issue,”
— Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Foreign Minister

The firm statement follows recent international speculation that the two sides could be nearing an informal framework to restart Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) discussions in 2025.

Diplomatic Uncertainty Clouds Regional Stability

The announcement quells hopes for diplomatic breakthroughs in US-Iran relations, potentially prolonging sanctions pressure on Iran and uncertainty in Middle East geopolitical dynamics.

Despite mounting international pressure, particularly from European allies, Tehran has maintained a hard stance, seeking guarantees and a lifting of sanctions before considering any formal engagement.

Implications for Markets and Diplomacy

The lack of progress in talks could influence oil market sentiment, given Iran's role as a key crude exporter. Additionally, continued nuclear uncertainty may shape US foreign policy strategies heading into 2025.
